Success starts in your head … or without the right attitude, no success!
There are many people who are looking for the secret for immediate success and prosperity in life.
The secret is that, strictly speaking, there is no secret, only strategies or techniques that can help you become successful or prosperous in a faster way.
But what is definitely certain:
Our mindset is one of the most important factors for success.
What does the word “mindset” mean?
The mindset is the way one thinks according to which way of life one lives, the attitude with which one approaches things. It contains the attitude, philosophy of life, orientation and world view. A “mindset,” that’s the ideas and the knowledge you’re giving out (see, for example, Steve Jobs).
How do you form a mindset?
Our attitudes to particular issues, how we think, feel and act, are interdependent and shaped by the experiences we have made over the course of our lives.
These, of course, include positive experiences that encourage and empower us in certain areas, but also negative ones that can lead to us not trusting ourselves to some things.
A “mindset” works against the background of our imprints like a filter, which determines how we perceive our environment and our fellow human beings, but above all our own possibilities.
There are two different types of mindsets:
Fixed Mindset and Growth Mindset (after Carol Dweck)
Motivational psychologist Carol Dweck has long studied how people deal with defeat and what causes some to seek challenges unimpressed, while others give up easily.
According to their theory, there are these two forms of “mindsets”:
1.) The Growth Mindset, often with growth-oriented, dynamically translated
2.) The Fixed Mindset (fixed = English rigid, inflexible).
What is characteristic of these two mindsets?
It can be observed that people who belong more to the category of fixed mindset tend to judge certain abilities as innate, i.e. as a talent. If these people then fail in a task, they then attribute it to the fact that they clearly lack certain gifts.
On the other hand, people who belong to the category of growth mindset are firmly convinced that they can achieve anything as long as they train or learn enough. It is this attitude that not only allows these people a much lower level of stress, but also leads to greater success overall.
Effects of our “mindset”:
It can be said for people with a rigid “mindset” that they …
- Avoid challenges when they fear risks and defeats
- Cannot handle defeats well, then try to hide those defeats
- Are convinced of being talented only in one field
- Often repeat negative beliefs internally
It can be said for people with a dynamic “mindset” that they …
- Are always inquisitive and curious to learn something new
- Know that effort and perseverance are needed to achieve goals
- See mistakes as an opportunity to learn something from them
- Know their weaknesses, but work on them
- Love and seek challenges
- Open to new experiences and ways of learning

Change Your Mindset
—> Here are a few tips:
1.) Always think positively!
Positive thinking is one of the basic prerequisites for mastering our lives in the best possible way. It also has a huge impact on one’s charisma and on our health. Make use of affirmations (positive self-influencing) to eliminate negative thoughts from your mind and to motivate yourself. Tell yourself every day: “I am a precious person! I love myself the way I am! Believing in oneself also belongs to positive thinking. Be convinced of yourself and believe in your dreams and goals.
Negative always attracts negative! (Negative thoughts create negativity in life).
2.) See yourself as successful!
The self-image that we have of ourselves decides who we will be in reality. If we think we are a failure, it will happen.
We create our own reality! And success starts in the head!
“Success is a mental attitude, and if you want to be successful, then start seeing yourself as successful.” – Dr. Joyce Brothers –
3.) Set goals daily!
Positive thinking alone does not make us successful in the end, but positive thinking in combination with energy. We have to learn to act! We cannot reach our goals overnight, but we can work on them every day.
Think daily about what you can do to achieve your goals step by step!
Create a plan and work on it for the long term!
4.) Be open to new things!
Take new challenges readily and learn to deal with defeats. We should learn that making mistakes is part of life and setbacks as well.
Be ready to learn new things, break new ground and try out new methods if things do not always work out!
5.) Have patience with yourself!
“Rome was not built in one day either”. -> Therefore, you should be considerate with yourself and forgive yourself mistakes and indispositions.
6.) Always stay realistic!
Never put too much emphasis on perfectionism! Always face reality, do not overcharge yourself and always try to improve something.
Use the PARETO principle, also known as the 80-20 rule.
It says that you often achieve 80 percent of the targeted result with only 20 percent use.
7.) Seize challenges and opportunities!
Leave your comfort zone and test a different water from time to time. Try other tasks and accept opportunities offered.
“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity, but you’re not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!” – Richard Branson
8.) Learn to deal with setbacks!
Defeats are part of success. Just because something does not work right away does not mean you have failed.
9.) Celebrate your achievements!
If you have made progress, you should celebrate it too. Even if it is only a small step forward.
