People look others in the face and decide whether a person is trustworthy or not.
Judgments about trustworthiness are often made in the first seconds of a meeting.
Assistant professor Jonathan Freeman, of New York University, states:
“Our research suggest that the brain automatically responds to a face’s trustworthiness before it is even consciously perceived.”
Or we analyze people’s words for finding out whether this person is trustworthy.
In business, as also in private, it is always about how trustworthy a person is.
We have learned, we must prove our trustworthiness first.
And we judge others via their trustworthiness, their competence, via their honesty, their transparency, and via their actions.
Believe it or not, judgments about trustworthiness are made in the first second of a meeting.
A person’s appearance – specifically, their facial features- determines whether we like a person or not.
WE MUST END THIS TRUSTWORTHINESS MYTH !
Here some thoughts of experts to the topic “Trustworthiness”:1.) Margie Warrell, Bestselling Author and Forbes Columnist. says:
“You cannot force others to become more trustworthy, but you can become more worthy of trust yourself.
By raising your own bar, through your words and actions, and being the change you want to see in others, you can ultimately create a more trusting environment around you.
So no matter how full the trust accounts are in your relationships, it’s never too late to work at building trust and you can never work too hard at maintaining it.”
– We should stop seeking our salvation in doing everything becoming more worthy of trust for others!
– When we raise our bar higher, then this is only for creating a better environment, not for false and ambitious hunting after people’s influence and trust.
– When trustworthiness results in the end in hypocrisy only for creating relationships of trust, then there is something false in our society.
2.) Guy Kawasaki, Chief evangelist of Canva, advisor to the CEO of Motorola and chief evangelist of Apple. and author of several books, writes in his book “Enchantment”:
“…if you want people to trust you, you have to trust them.”
“We should give as we would receive, cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation, for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.” ~ Seneca
“If you are a mensch, you are honest, fair, kind, and transparent …
“Focus on goodwill .. Mensches focus on goodwill”
This means when we give first, with goodwill, others can learn to give us, too.
But aiming on trustworthiness of others is false.
3.) Ernst Fehr, Professor of Economics, Vice-Chairman of the Department of Economics, Director of UBS Center, says:
“Who cooperates, is seen as trustworthy and is preferred as partner for cooperation.
And who is generous, can use that as social capital.”
My opinion: Then why not cooperating more in business? ( are my thoughts …)

Worthy or not worthy ( like Shakespeare .. to be or not to be )… how derogatory is that !
We are worthy by nature … we are all human beings!
Trust needs a new thinking … a new culture !
